There's a First for Everything

A couple of Sundays ago, Daddy had to do some work so Mommy and I ventured out to the public library. It was my first trip to the library (which I prefer to call libary - it's just easier to say) and I had a pretty good time. We got there 30 minutes before the libary opened and I insisted on waiting outside the doors, standing the whole time, as a rather motley crowd gathered (those are mommy's words, not mine). There was even this guy who came out of nowhere and calmly walked up to the glass doors, 15 minutes before the libary was to open (as so indicated on the doors) and he raised his arms up to the sky and slowly and calmly said, "For the love of the law, open these doors." He vanished shortly after that and didn't return when the doors opened, as far as we could see.

Anyway, the doors finally opened and the first thing we did was get me my very own libary card. Mommy had to check out a book for her book club and then we went to this area that's just for kids. I looked around at some books and even found the Richard Scarry book that I have at home, pulled it off the shelf and looked at it, but ultimately decided against checking out any books.

I then got to play with some of the toy's in the children's area and had an overall good time. I think I do want to go back and get a book, so hopefully I will get a chance to do that.

The Cat in the Hat Turned 50 and I Freaked...

On Saturday after swimming, Gramma Kathy and mommy took me on a surprise adventure. After driving for about 15 minutes, we ended up at this kinda swanky art gallery in Scottsdale and I was thinking, "Oh great, what am I going to do here?" But as it turns out, the gallery was auctioning off Dr. Seuss art in honor of the Cat in the Hat's 50th birthday (with proceeds visiting one of my favorite places - the Zoo!!). They had Dr. Seuss books to read, and pictures to look at as well as this lady who could paint the Cat in the Hat on your face.

So anyway, all is pretty good and low key - there's only about 4 - 6 other kids there the whole time we are there - and I am looking at the art and getting my face painted when we learn that the actual Cat in the Hat will be at the gallery in just a few minutes. We decided to stick around and try and meet the Cat in the Hat in person. Sure enough, he showed up. I had no idea how tall he was. It was really kinda scary. As he approached the gallery, I hid behind Gramma. Everyone was really excited, but I just got scared and started to cry. Mommy and Gramma asked me what was wrong and I said--rather forcefully--"I WAN'T TO GO HOME! I WAN'T TO GO HOME!"

Thankfully, they whisked me out of there pretty fast and I was zonked out in my car seat before we got home.

A Trip to Shamrock Farms

Today I go to to go to a really cool place - Shamrock Farms. Shamrock Farms is the largest dairy farm where I live and it makes a lot of really yummy stuff like milk, cottage cheese and ice cream. I was supposed to meet up at the farm with my friend David, but he got sick. He will have to get better and go out there, because it's a lot of fun.

The farm is super clean and produces thousands of gallons of milk every day. We got to ride a tram through the bays where the cows feed and even go to go in a building and watched them milk. They sure were cooperative. I even got to see some baby calfs that were about 2 months old. I was too scared to pet the calf, but Daddy was really brave. At the end of the tour, we got to eat lunch and enjoy some yummy ice cream. It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning!

I'm a Little Goldfish!

This weekend, I got to go to my first Little Goldfish class at swimming. This is a big deal because it means I am no longer in the kiddie pool and mommy doesn't have to get in with me anymore. I had a lot of fun and didn't cry at all. I am still getting used to my new coach (Adriana) and missing my former (Ed). I will be swimming by myself in no time!
