My Summer Travel Blog, Session 1

This vacation thing is pretty cool. I think you all know that mommy and I made the trek to Oklahoma. The beauty and ease of technology allows me to keep you, my gentle readers, up to date on all things Emerson while I am away. That's because the Web knows no boundaries.

So, let me share with you a few highlights as of now. Mommy and I made it just in time to the gate at the airport to be the last of the pre-boarders. A nice flight attendant helped us secure my carseat and I was mesmerized with all that was going on around me. I really enjoyed being on the plane and the take off was soooooo cool. I didn't cry at all. I was pretty well behaved the whole time, except when mommy wouldn't let me play with the chapstick and her compact mirror anymore. In fact, I made a scene and screamed for about 10 minutes. Fearing the worst (from other passengers, not me) mommy caved and gave the stuff back to me.

I was a bit hesitant seeing Papa and Gamma but they were super nice and took mommy and me to lunch where I got to eat a grilled cheese and homemade french fries. Mommy and I were super tired and took a nap on the way back to their place.

On Sunday, a whole bunch of my family came to see me: My uncle Marsh and Aunt Mikael, My Great Aunt Kim and her kids (my cousins, Skye and James). I was napping when everyone got here and by the time I woke up, everyone was in the pool. So, when in Rome...

I was a bit hesitant, even though I am in swim school, to get in the water with all these people I hadn't seen in over a year. But Papa and Gamma had a froggie floatie for me and some water guns that all of us used to spray each other with and I ended up having a really good time.

After swimming, we had burgers and dogs from the grill and yummy beans and potato salad. I got to play with my cousins who where nice enough to bring me some toys to keep on hand while I am here. That was very nice of them!

Of course there was a lot of playing, I got to ride piggy back on my uncle Marsh's shoulders...

...and hugging. My cousin James gave me lots of hugs!

...and photo taking (here's one with me, mommy, Uncle Marsh and Aunt Mikael)

...and baby dropping. Yep, Mommy pulled a Britney when trying to pose for one of the last photos. Fortunately, there was only one Papa-razzi around. ;) Please don't be too hard on her.

At the end of it all, I had a great time and really enjoyed seeing my family. They are all really way cool people!

We still have several days of vacation activities; so, until next time...

We Just Can't

My mommy can't read.

I told all of my fans that we were jumping onto an airplane today to go visit my Papa Jim and Gamma Lynn in Oklahoma. Turns out, that was false information. The real deal, is that we leave on Saturday morning.

In the big scheme of things, it doesn't really matter because I can't tell time and I still get to see my OK family.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend.

Posts will resume when we return.

Peace out,

Emerson

Toddler Talk

The conversations of my life right now.

En route to school:

Mommy: Emerson, are you ready to go to school and see all of your friends?
Emerson: Tay (which means Okay or yes).
Mommy: Who are you going to see?
Emerson: Dayee (David), Gayreel (Gabriel), [interrupt to say: Mommy KooButh Koobuth, Koobuth mommy! (school bus)]
Mommy: That's right Emerson, that is a school bus! Who else will you see at school?
Emerson: Gackie (Jacquie), Emma, Gaykuh (Jacob), Nina (Nidaa), Rocio (Cee-oh).

En route to car after leaving daycare:

In my own Rainman stream of consciousness way: Mommy-car! Mommy-car! Airpane. Airpane. Airpane. Daddy-truh (truck). Daddy-truh. Key-mommy Key-mommy. Dohr. Dohr. Dohr.

En route to bath-time:

Wah-wah (water) mommy. Want bah (bath) mommy. Bubble bah. Elmo bubble. Bubble, mommy. Bubble, bubble, bubble, Elmo bubble. Wah-wah. Mo wah-wah. Want mo wah-wah mommy!!

And this is just a sampling oh and a bath-time photo.

Got me a ticket an an aeroplane

My granparents, sent me a letter.

Kinda, anyway. Mommy and I are taking a big trip very soon and I get to ride on an airplane. I am so excited I can't even put it into words. I love airplanes. I love them so much that I point to them and tell everyone, "It's airplane! It's airplane! It's airplane!" I sometimes even say it more than that. I also really love my Papa Jim and Gamma Lynn and can't wait to see my uncle, aunt, and cousins. It will be super fun.

To help me, mommy has made me a countdown calendar. You can see that as of today there are 13 days left until we go.

You can bet that there'll be a trip recap, highlighting all that we did.
