The Cat in the Hat Turned 50 and I Freaked...
On Saturday after swimming, Gramma Kathy and mommy took me on a surprise adventure. After driving for about 15 minutes, we ended up at this kinda swanky art gallery in Scottsdale and I was thinking, "Oh great, what am I going to do here?" But as it turns out, the gallery was auctioning off Dr. Seuss art in honor of the Cat in the Hat's 50th birthday (with proceeds visiting one of my favorite places - the Zoo!!). They had Dr. Seuss books to read, and pictures to look at as well as this lady who could paint the Cat in the Hat on your face.
So anyway, all is pretty good and low key - there's only about 4 - 6 other kids there the whole time we are there - and I am looking at the art and getting my face painted when we learn that the actual Cat in the Hat will be at the gallery in just a few minutes. We decided to stick around and try and meet the Cat in the Hat in person. Sure enough, he showed up. I had no idea how tall he was. It was really kinda scary. As he approached the gallery, I hid behind Gramma. Everyone was really excited, but I just got scared and started to cry. Mommy and Gramma asked me what was wrong and I said--rather forcefully--"I WAN'T TO GO HOME! I WAN'T TO GO HOME!"
Thankfully, they whisked me out of there pretty fast and I was zonked out in my car seat before we got home.
