About a month ago, a change was made to my feeding regimen. Mommy and daddy and I met with my G.I. doctor, Dr. S., and he felt that with my size and my age, that we could try doing what's called a gravity feed (this is for my liquid intake). A gravity feed is ideal, because my tummy would be taking the liquid in at whatever pace it could handle, which conveniently enough, is fast. What I had been using up to this point was a machine that would pump the liquid into me and each feeding would take about 20 - 35 minutes, depending on volume. Because a gravity feed is so fast, we had to test things out first and tackle it slowly.

So, we first went from four liquid feeds per day, to three feedings (each at a higher volume). I tolerated that change and so after two weeks of that, we were able to move to the gravity feed. The good news, is that it worked! I didn't get sick and the feedings took about 10 minutes. The other great news about this way to feed, is it gets rid of a lot of equipment that has to be hauled around to keep my hydrated and nutritionally sound. So now, instead of an liesurely intake, I chug it like a college frat boy. Fortunately, I don't end up with a hangover afterward.

Also on the health front...my next swallow study is scheduled for February 14th. Tell cupid I don't need a cootie-ridden girlfriend for Valentine's day, I just need to pass my swallow test!

More news to follow in the coming weeks.

Toodles!
