This Day of Thanks

I am starting to realize that this Thanksgiving holiday is a pretty important one. First of all, lots of people go to a lot of trouble to make a really nice meal. These same people open their home to family and friends on this special day. And lastly, it's a day to reflect on all we are thankful for. Well, I have to tell you...with this being only my second Thanksgiving, you may think I don't have a lot to be thankful for; but you would be wrong. I decided that this year, I would write a poem to tell everyone what I am thankful for.

What I am thankful for this Thanksgiving

My mommy and my daddy
All my grandparents too
My extended family everywhere
And my blogger readers - yes, every single one of you!

Friends are super special
So are dogs and cats and birds.
Teachers make the grade
For teaching me so many new words.

I am thankful for music and dancing
Nap time, play time and food
For binkies and blankies and teddy bears
And for living in a safe ol 'hood .

I am grateful for my doctors
And everyone's patience as I get healthy
I am not rich in love, support and kindness
Oh no, I am rather wealthy.
