When Two Heads Aren't Better Than One
WARNING: This post is rated P-13 due to minor violence and blood. Reader discretion is advised.
It was bound to happen. Now that I am such a big boy and helping out more, I just knew something like this would occur. Let me break it down for all y'all.
7:28 a.m. - Mommy says, "C'mon Emerson, It's time to go to school." I run into the kitchen where Mommy is.
7:30 a.m. - Mommy drops a pen on the floor. Wanting to be helpful, I bend down to pick it up. Mommy, wanting to retrieve her pen, does the same thing. As she's bending down, I am coming up and WHAMMO! My head and her mouth collided. I experienced my first head-on collision.
7:31 a.m. - Mommy shrieks and I gasp and flail my arms. My mouth all of sudden tastes really weird. Mommy looks down and sees a bunch of blood and grabs some paper towels and a ball syringe to clean my mouth out. Meanwhile, Mommy has noticed that the back of her left, front tooth feels like there might be a scratch. (More on that later).
7:40 a.m. - I have stopped crying and my mouth is all cleaned out. Mommy can't find where the blood actually came from because every time she asks me to open my mouth, I stick my tongue out. It's just a new thing I do.
7:55 a.m. - Mommy drops me off at school and tells my teachers about our incident. She asks them to keep an eye on my lip for any additional bleeding or swelling. I am telling you - I was perfectly fine.
10: 30 a.m. - Mommy remembers that her tooth felt different. She reaches up with her finger so to see if she can tell if her tooth is scratched or chipped and the whole back side of her front, left tooth (which is a porcelain cap) COMES OFF! Amazingly, she's not in any pain.
10:32 a.m. - Mommy calls her dentist's office and is told she can't be seen until Monday. Mommy works with them to go in and at least get an x-ray.
2:30 p.m. - Dentist tells momy that she should be fine until Monday when a temporary crown can be made and the replacement crown can be ordered. Good thing she had had a root canal on that tooth a while ago - no nerve - no pain. She's also told that it's going to be pretty expensive to fix. I don't really know anything about money, I just heard Mommy saying she was glad she had insurance even though they weren't even covering half.
8:00 p.m. - I am bed-bound and still prove to be okay. Mommy bore the brunt of our impact and took the heat for me. Mommies are the best.
Moral of the story - slow down, watch what you are doing, give your son a chance to help out for pete's sake! I love you, Mommy!
Emerson
