Ignorance IS Bliss

So, I wake up today and it seems like any old Sunday. But what I don't realize, is that today is my second birthday. It took me quite awhile to figure this out because the day started out so normal.

I got up about 8:00 a.m. and got a fresh diaper and then put my Elmo slippers on (okay, so I had some help here). For breakfast I had some pancakes (seven of them actually). They are really small and really good and I just kept saying, "Moe pee," which means more please (NOT more pee). Context is critical when dealing with us wee talkers.

After breakfast, I got cleaned up and mommy and bama Kathy and I went to the mall to get my picture taken. This should have been my first clue that it was an important day, but I haven't quite put that all together in my head just yet. I wasn't real cooperative at the photo place (big surprise, I know). Mommy is supposed to be able to pick from five poses, and she was only able to pick from one. Fortunately, there were a couple of good ones from the one pose and she was able to drop some cash and get a professional picture of me on my birthday.

It's still seeming like a normal day and then we go home and mommy puts me down for my nap. It's at this time that things start happening differently than other days. First off, is mommy wakes me from my nap early. This NEVER happens. She usually loves the time I sleep, so I wasn't sure what was going on. Then, she and bama Katy put all these boxes in the car. We all load up and then drive out to Glendale where mommy gives a lady some money and in return she gets this pink box. Inside the box is an Elm0 (or as I say, Melmo) cake. We go into this restaurant and soon enough there's a whole slew of people sitting with me (well, really only me, mommy, daddy, bama and Scott and Claudia). Mommy starts handing me cards and then presents and all of a sudden I realize it's my birthday! (Not really, but this is a memoir and I have heard that a memoir can be full of lies and embellishments and still be MY story, so this is my story and I am stickin' to it.)

Mommy ordered me some ravioli, but after eating bread, I didn't want any. Fortunately, I saved room for cake, which was a yummy carrot cake. :) In addition to the yummy breadn and cake, I got a ton of nice presents: Books, Elmo and Bob the Builder dvds, a Sit and Spin, a Mower, two Speak and Says (Elmo and Animals) and my very first tricycle! I won't bore you with all of the pictures that were taken, but here are some of my favorites:

Back Row (L-R): Tia Claudia, Bama Kathy, Uncle Scott
Front Row: Daddy, me, Mommy

My Yummy 'Melmo' Cake (It's carrot cake, no raisins and cream cheese frosting!)

Shoveling it in

Me and my big wheels!

That's it! It was a great day. Thanks to all, near and far, for making my day so special! See you next time!
